After extensive research into plastic production processes and technology, Arkay Plastics Industries Ltd commissioned its project for manufacturing plastic housewares in Chirimba Industrial Estate, Blantyre. Arkay Plastics Industries Ltd began production in June 1997, with 4 injection moulding machines and 6 products. By the year 2001, Arkay Plastics Industries Ltd had 25 machines and 120 products. Arkay Plastics Industries Ltd's policy was to continue investment in machinery and moulds in order to reap the maximum benefits from economies of scale. The re-investment into state-of the art equipment and mould also ensured that Arkay Plastics Industries Ltd's products were of the highest quality.
